How does Levitra (Vardenafil) work?
Levitra acts in the same way as Viagra, by blocking an enzyme called phosphodiesterase-5, or PDE-5. This helps the smooth muscles in the penis to relax, which effectively increases blood flow, creating a harder, longer-lasting erection.
Levitra should NEVER be used by men who:
Take nitrate-containing drugs for heart conditions.
Take medicines called alpha blockers, such as Cardura, for high blood pressure or enlarged prostate.
Recent heart attack or stroke who have very low blood pressure or uncontrolled high blood pressure.
Patients with a rare heart condition known as QT prolongation.
Levitra side effects:
The most commonly reported side effects were headache, flushing, dyspepsia (indigestion), and nasal congestion.
